Rinky Dinks Ukulele Quartet—
Great rockin Uke band to check out.

I had the absolute treat and pleasure of seeing The Rinky Dinks Ukulele Quartet in Bristol. For those into the Uke they have to be seen to witness how so many pop songs can come to life on the Uke and even those who don’t play must have been impressed and turned on as this humble small instrument beckoned our attention from the Rinky Dinks.

The line up features 3 or 4 ukuleles with the necessary backdrop of bass guitar and drums. Mike the lead singer has an amazing range and a powerful gutsy voice and is well suited for ‘Should I stay or should I go’ (The Clash) one of the first numbers.

Then follows increased respect and awe as Kaiser Cheifs ‘I predict a riot’ is starting and the crowd are loving every 4 string chord and single note-this has to be heard and was easily my most memorable highlight of that week in fact!

Ballroom Blitz by The Sweet just gave The Rinky Dinks carte blanche to pull out of their goodie song bag whatever they so desired because truly their choice of songs and no matter what era they represented on the uke would not disappoint.

Then came the Astaire classic ‘Cheek to Cheek which with its turn in tempo and grace had us swooning and respecting and having fun-what a night of entertainment.

I was too busy enjoying myself to write every song down so I’m sifting through

I’m a believer!!
